Yogi Son lands third win from last four starts with bold display of frontrunning

A bold drive by James Herbertson has given four-year-old Yogi Son his third career win, over the mile at home track Cranbourne.

It was Yogi Son’s third win from his last four starts, and his second at Cranbourne.

The gelding gave supporters a few nervous moments when he caused a false start and struggled to get behind the barrier.

From the restart, Yogi Son showed fine acceleration to go straight to the lead.

From there, Herbertson let Yogi Son stretch out and build a big lead as the field turned for home.

Despite the fast finish of favourite Mister Blindside, Yogi Son got to the post with a margin of 1.2m.

The winning stake boosted Yogi Son’s career earnings to almost A$15,000, having won three of his 14 starts.

On the Australian tote, Yogi Son paid $3.70 for the win and $1.70 for the place. In New Zealand, Kyle Marshall Racing supporters earned $3.50 and $1.50 at the TAB.
