A bold frontrunning effort by Yogi Son paid off when he romped home at the head of a 10-strong field at home track Cranbourne.
From the second row at the mobile, driver Chris Alford found a clean passage through the field to take the lead with more than a lap to go in the mile event.
Unlike his previous recent starts, the four-year-old trotter raced perfectly, stepping cleanly and taking command of the race.
He finished easing down, nearly four metres ahead of second-placed Myrtle Vale, to land the winner’s stake of $2,250 and record his maiden victory.

On the Australian tote, Yogi Son paid $4.90 for the win and $2.00 for the place. In New Zealand, Kyle Marshall Racing supporters earned $4.80 and $1.80 at the TAB.
