Kyle Marshall Racing have bought four lots at the 2021 National Standardbred Yearling Sale at Karaka, south of Auckland.
Trainer Kyle Marshall said he was delighted with the purchases, all of which will be trained at Kyle Marshall Racing’s Cambridge stables.
“I’m very happy with what we bought,” Marshall said.
“I think they’ll all make nice 2-year-olds and will be ready early for racing careers.”
Marshall said his assessment of auction lots included finding horses that met criteria including:
- Maturity: “It was important that they looked strong and well developed for their age.”
- Family history: “I was looking for yearlings from families that do well when young, so they can compete strongly as 2-year-olds.”
- Eye test: “I went after the lots that looked healthy and well presented.”
He praised vendors Breckon Farms and Leanach Lodge for the high standard of their lots.
Update: Two of the yearlings have owners and Kyle Marshall Racing are seeking to syndicate ownership in the others.
