Last start winner Son of Mac has pushed the unbeaten Merlin to a half-head decision at the Auckland workout.
The two-year-old bay colt, from the Kyle Marshall Racing stables, couldn’t get clear till the final straight at the Pukekohe track but he made good ground on Merlin, closing at the line and going past him soon after.
Merlin is unbeaten in trials, workouts and at four raceday starts in which he’s earned almost $70,000 for his connections. His wins include a Group 2 event.
