Two-year-olds Son of Mac and Hugo Maguire will take on hot shots Beckham, Seve and the unbeaten Merlin in a $75,000 feature race at Auckland’s Alexandra Park on Friday March 25.
The Kyle Marshall Racing-trained pair will contest the 1700m Breckon Farms Cardigan Bay Stakes Mobile Pace, a Group 2 event.
Son of Mac came 4th at his only start but looked handy as he came home down the Alexandra Park straight.
His stablemate, Hugo Maguire, has had two starts for a couple of sixth placings, and needs to be on his best manners to show what he can do.
When the fields were declared, the fixed odds were juicy for the pair with Son of Mac paying $21 for the win and Hugo Maguire offering $51.
