Rain no problem as Whooshka powers home by three lengths

posted in: News

Whooshka powered through the rain to win by three lengths in her latest start at Cambridge Raceway.

The four-year-old bay mare, from the Kyle Marshall Racing stables, overcame a potentially awkward draw to take up a one-out, one-back position when the field of 12 settled in the 2200m event on Thursday August 25.

With a lap to go, driver Kyle Marshall took Whooshka to the front where he controlled the pace and waited for the chance to cut loose.

As the field turned for home, there was only going to be one winner and the mare cruised to the line.

The win provided connections with $4,950, taking lifetime earnings to almost $25,000 from her 14 raceday starts.

At the tote, Whooshka paid $3.50 for the win and $1.50 for the place.
