Patient drive helps fast-finishing Eyecon land his seventh career win at Melton

A patient drive by Sophie Jefferies and a stunning finish down the straight have combined to provide Eyecon with a win at Melton.

Drawn awkwardly, Jefferies allowed Eyecon to tack on to the back of the field and stay out of trouble.

With 600m to go, Eyecon was taken wide to go around the field, and he motored past them, hitting the lead in the straight.

At the post, he was four metres clear.

The win was Eyecon’s seventh from his 51 starts and takes his career earnings to almost A$44,000.

On the Australian tote, Eyecon paid $3.80 for the win and $2.00 for the place. In New Zealand, Kyle Marshall Racing supporters earned $4.30 and $1.80 at the TAB.
