Three-year-old filly Whooshka has won her first race, getting home by the smallest of margins at Alexandra Park.

Trainer/driver Kyle Marshall confidently took Whooshka to the front and he controlled the pace of the race before powering away from the front with 400m to go.

Only Ronda kept in touch with the leader and the pair were eyeball to eyeball as they crossed the finish line, with Whooshka awarded the win in the photo finish.

The win was Whooshka’s first, at her sixth start, and she has three placings.

The win provided connections with a $6,600 winning stake taking her career earnings to $9,380.

At the tote, she paid $4.90 for the win and $1.60 for the place.
