A patient drive by Sophie Jefferies and a storming finish got favourite Eyecon home in the last race at Melton on Friday.

A recent arrival at the Kyle Marshall Racing stables, Eyecon dropped out to last in the early stages of the mile event.

Jefferies gave the seven-year-old gelding a quiet first lap, content to wait till the last half circuit to make progress.

On the turn home, she took Eyecon wide and gave him his head.

He blitzed the field, winning by almost four metres to the delight of his supporters.
