From an awkward draw behind the mobile barrier, Marshall let the colt settle in eighth place and conserved energy for the first lap of the Bendigo course.
With 500 metres to go, Marshall let Fire Marshall go forward, and he came around the field at the final turn.
As they came down the straight, none got home better than Fire Marshall and he got up to win with 1.5m to spare on second-placed Test Of Fire.
The win takes his record to two wins and two placings from his six-race career, with earnings exceeding A$10,500.
