Three-year-old colt Smoken Ace has scored back-to-back victories with a gritty frontrunning display in a $16,500 feature event at Melton.
Driver Chris Alford took Smoken Ace straight to the front, positioning him on the rail.
Alford controlled the pace of the race and when the field turned for him, Smoken Ace dug deep for the run home, seeing off the fast finishing High Above.
The win was the colt’s seventh from 15 starts, and his career earnings now exceed A$64,000.
On the Australian tote, Smoken Ace paid $5.00 for the win and $1.50 for the place. In New Zealand, Kyle Marshall Racing supporters earned $7.10 and $1.20 at the TAB.
